Instructions for Common hobbies
This game helps students build vocabulary around common hobbies and leisure activities in English. The words and phrases covered include guitar, music, singing, drawing, playing video games, football, skiing, horse riding, reading books, handball, floorball, and swimming.
Students practise both the individual hobby words and how to use them naturally in sentences — for example, knowing that in English we say go swimming, play football, and go horse riding rather than simply swim, football, or riding. This is an important aspect of hobby vocabulary that learners often find tricky.
The game is well suited for use as an introduction to a hobbies topic, as consolidation practice after classroom instruction, or as an independent activity for students to complete at their own pace.
1. Hobbies – Word Search (Letter Grid)

The words to be found are placed on the board as 4-way straight words and they are listed in plain text next to the board. If the student manages to find all the words, the round is won. There is no time limit. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button labeled Cancel - then the correct words will be displayed - and try to complete the level again.2. Cloze Test - The level consists of 1 cloze text. In the game, the student is presented with 1 question texts where certain parts (words or numbers) are hidden. These words or numbers have been replaced by fields where the student must either fill in the correct word, or select the correct word from a list. Sometimes, there's a question mark ? after the blank - if the player clicks on it a hint will be shown. A cloze text usually requires the reader to understand the context of the text in order to fill in the blank with the correct word. It may therefore be necessary to read the text several times. The student has 3 hearts (tries) for each fill-in-the-blank. The student has 3 hearts, giving them another chance at missed cloze texts during a game round.
