The game Periodic Table

Learn chemical elements and groups in the periodic table of elements.

Instructions for Periodic Table

In this blind map quiz game, you practice on the chemical elements categorized into the periodic table. The first level starts with basic questions about the structure of periodic table.

The game is divided into the following groups and you choose whether to play with symbols or without symbols:

Period 1-4, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, transition metals, poor metals, metalloids, nonmetals, halogens and noble gases.

1. General questions (Periodic table)

Multiple choiceMultiple choice - The level consists of 6 multiple choice questions and all of them are practiced in every game round. For each question, the player is given two or three possible answers, only one of which is correct. It is up to the player to choose the correct option. The student has 3 hearts, giving them another chance at missed multiple choice questions during a game round. Questions have text-to-speech in English. Answers have text-to-speech in English. There is no time limit. When the student has selected all the correct answers, the game round is completed. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button labeled Cancel - then the correct answers will be displayed - and try to complete the level again.

2. Period 1-4 (With symbols)

Image markupsImage markups - The level consists of 36 image markup questions, but a maximum of 10 image markup questions are practiced per game round. Each image question should be answered by selecting the correct marker in the image. Only one of the markers is correct. It is for you to find the right dot in the image. The student has 3 hearts (tries) for each question. The student has 3 hearts, giving them another chance at missed image markup questions during a game round. If the student answers a task incorrectly, the game round can be continued, but the round is marked as not completed. Questions have text-to-speech in English. There is no time limit. When the student has found all the correct picture markings, the game round is completed. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button labeled Cancel - then all the correct dots in the image will be displayed - and try to complete the level again.

Calculation of knowledge points and medals

Each completed game level in Periodic Table gives 1 knowledge points. You can collect a maximum of 19 knowledge points by completing all 19 levels.
In the game Periodic Table, you can earn a total of 57 medals. Medals are awarded based on how many times you have completed a level:
  • Bronze medal: after completing 2 rounds.
  • Silver medal: after completing 5 rounds.
  • Gold medal: after completing 10 rounds.
Knowledge points are only awarded for levels you have not completed before, meaning those that do not yet have checked green circles. Even after completing a level and earning both knowledge points and medals, you can continue practicing it. However, this will not grant any additional knowledge points or medals.

This game is a simple and fun way to memorize the locations of elements on the periodic table, in case that is what you need to study for an exam or other purposes. It's pretty easy, it's free, and you can do the test again after the first time, plus you get results.
Some might say its too simple and silly, but seriously, it helps you:
1) know where the elements are
2) know their symbol/ the letters shorthand that the element stands for. eg. Nickel = Ni.
3) Memorise

Overall, I strongly recommend this game for educational purposes.

I like the game, although, it was a little hard to memorize where each and every element should go. But the game has helped me with my chemistry class. Thank you for creating this game.

KimisChem: Thank you for pointing out a possible misspelling. I know you spell it as CESIUM in the US. However, CAESIUM is the spelling recommended by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
