Instructions for Easy mix-ups in the English language

Practise these easily mixed up English words in the following excersises.:

Is it of or off?
Is it two, to or too?
Is it their, there or they're?
Is it your or you're?

We use 'of' when talking about belonging or connection, it does not change the meaning of the words around it. Examples: a block of flats, a pack of wolves.
We use 'off' as the opposite of 'on', it gives meaning. Examples: turn off the computer, turn off the oven.

We use 'two' when counting. It is the written form of 2. Example: one, two, three...
We use 'to' when talking about location. Example: I am going to New York.
We use 'too' when talking about amount. Example: The car costs too much.

We use 'their' to talk about possession. It is the possessive form of the pronoun them. Example: This is their house.
We use 'there' to talk about location. It is the opposite of here. Example: The car is over there.
We use 'they're' (which is a contraction of they are) to talk about people. "Who are they? Oh, they're my family!"

We use 'your' to talk about possession. It is the possessive form of you. Example: Is this your book?
We use 'you're' to talk about people, it is a contraction of you are. Example: You're my favourite person.

Multiple choiceMultiple choice - The level consists of 10 questions and all are practiced every game round. For each question, the player is given two possible answers. Only one of these is correct. It is up to the player to choose the correct alternative. The student has 3 hearts (extra lives) that keep the game round going. There is no time limit. When the student has selected all the correct answers, the game round is completed. If it is too difficult, the player can click the button named Cancel - then the correct answers will be displayed - and then try to complete the level again.

5. Of or off (Write all)

Cloze testCloze test - The level consists of 10 cloze texts and all are practiced every game round. The order of the cloze texts is randomized each game round. In the game, the student is presented with 10 questions texts where certain parts (words or numbers) are hidden. These words or numbers have been replaced by fields where the student must either fill in the correct word, or select the correct word from a list. Sometimes, there's a question mark ? after the blank - if the player clicks on it a hint will be shown. The student has 3 attempts to write the correct word in the game's blanks. A cloze text usually requires the reader to understand the context of the text in order to fill in the blank with the correct word. It may therefore be necessary to read the text several times. There is no time limit. When the student has filled in all the blanks correctly, the game round is complete. If any blank is too difficult, the student can click the Cancel button - this shows all the correct answers to the gaps - and the player can try to complete the cloze text again.

Calculation of knowledge points

Each completed game level gives 1 knowledge point in Easy mix-ups in the English language. The maximum number of points (8 knowledge points) is achieved when you pass all 8 levels. You'll get a bronze medal when you complete a level 2 times and a silver medal after 5 completed rounds. A gold medal will be received after 10 completed rounds. In Easy mix-ups in the English language, the maximum number of collectable gold medals is 8. You only earn knowledge points for levels that has not been cleared before. A cleared level has a green background above. Even when you have completed a level, you can continue practicing at that level, but it gives you no more knowledge points.
