We are excited to introduce a new feature that makes it even easier for students to learn while playing on Helpful Games!
What’s New?
When a student answers a question incorrectly in the game, they can now get an explanation directly at the missed question. The feature helps students understand the question.
The feature is available on public games and currently works on game levels with:
- Multiple choice questions
- Free text answers
Please note: If questions have media attached to them (e.g. image, video or audio file), it is unfortunately not possible to get an explanation yet.
Helpful Games AI
To generate the explanations, we have introduced Helpful Games AI – a smart assistant that analyzes the questions and creates pedagogical explanations tailored to each question.
Once an explanation has been generated for a question, it is saved in the system, so that both you and other students can access the same explanation the next time the question appears.
How Many Explanations Can I Get?
- Free users: 2 new explanations per session
- Plus members: 10 new explanations per session
Remember that a generation only counts when it’s a completely new explanation being created. If the explanation already exists in Helpful Games, you can read it as many times as you like without it counting as a new generation!
For Game Creators
As a teacher and game creator, you have full control over the explanations in your games! You can:
- Generate new explanations for questions that don’t yet have an explanation
- Edit existing explanations to adapt them to your students’ needs
This way, you can ensure that the explanations are pedagogically optimal and suit your specific teaching.
Why Is This Good?
Instead of just seeing that the answer was wrong, students get the chance to learn from their mistake immediately. This makes playing more educational and allows students to develop while they play.
